Vocational Training to Leprosy affected people Durgapur (WB) An initiative by Ummed Foundation in collaboration with Kartick Kalindi in Durgapur. Umeed Foundation has joined hands with Mr. Kartick Kalindi, who has devoted himself to the service of underprivileged, beggars and Leprosy patients residing at Nabadiganta leprosy colony near Durgapur. Under his supervision Umeed Foundation completed its first project of Mushroom Cultivation. Recently under his supervision Umeed Foundation’s second project, constructing full setup of Vermicompost unit in the nearby colony is completed. He is teaching Mushroom cultivation and building vermicompost, which will help the socio-economic development of these inhabitants, giving them self-sufficiency and dignity. Umeed Foundation is proffering economic assistance to these projects. Through this project there will be a scope of employment and income for the leprosy affected colony people, who do not have the means to have even one meal a day. families of 3 nearby villages are now benefited by this project.
